Mid-January Potholes....

So, mid-January has passed, playoffs are nearly done, the bills have started coming in even heavier than before, oh, and it is a brisk 0 degrees outside. Fun.

Right?

Well, I am declaring a holiday. A holiday of celebration. A holiday that will be signifcant and life-changing. I declare a holiday of "now".

In so many respects the current reality of our world rotates around on "yesterday". From the bills we have, the debt our country bears, the wars being fought, the illness' that have puzzled scientist, and the on and off again love of having a professional career... all of these have one thing in common - yesterday. (in a matter of speaking of course)

"Yesterday", or before "now" it takes one a moment of realization to see that how we got to "this point" is from what happened yesterday and how to fix it, deal with it, accept it, make it better... "it" = "yesterday"...

As a society we, without even realizing it, have become reactive in every sense of the word. No matter how many times a day or week we "decide" to tredge forward and being "proactive" to have a better outlook and have "resolutions"... we are still being held prisoner by yesterday - because yesterday controls our now - we have allowed that.

Now, don't think I am referencing all the deep philosophical emblems of the soul of the world or superficial things like how to not let the fruit go bad that money was spent on... it is whatever each of us make it.

Each day, each moment - it should be - enjoying the moment - appreciating it - and planning for the NEXT one... we shouldn't be overly excited or surprised when a really great day happens. Each of us have it within our heart of hearts, with the minds given to each (that ironically we use only 10% of) to truly expect and anticipate the next great blessing the day holds. To notice the smile of a stranger, the door held open by another, the wave from the car in front of you when you let them in traffic, all of it.

So... I challenge this. Anticipate a great day and plan for it - in your outlook, your attitude, your character, and your demeanor. You will be amazed at how different and how absolutely exhilirating it all can be, not to mention how healthy it is for you, and the most important part... all that energy spent on "getting thru the day to fix yesterday" will start to be used in a useful and more productive and peaceful way.

Have a great day everyone! Sorry it has been so long since my last post. I will be better about that!
