Webster defines “dilemma” as an argument presenting two or more equally conclusive alternatives against an opponent / a usually undesirable or unpleasant choice / a problem involving a difficult choice
“What is distressing or painful about a dilemma is having to make a choice one does not want to make. The use of such adjectives as terrible, painful, and irreconcilable suggests that dilemma is losing some of its unpleasant force” Pat Calabria Usage definition for Webster’s
Let’s put it into real life, because frankly this word is so overrated, overused, and overall misunderstood. There are different “views” – neither is right or wrong! Because each person envelopes their own opinions and beliefs and outlooks…. It is what makes us who we are ~ human… each different just like the snowflake ;)
Who has gotten lost in the scenario below…
“Said” person has ideas of what life was supposed to be like. Maybe the type of job, type of family, relationships, financial status, etc… “Said” goes thru the daily grind and after time looks back on what has come before today and feels torn, defeated, lost, and defeated. See “said” did not look at life as choices and options and then devise a plan of action and then follow thru on it. “Said” had viewed it in the moment and how each dilemma would impact “said” not how it would impact the world around. “Said” now believes they are in a dilemma within their life… Are they?
Are you lost yet? Keep up with me here…
Another view is this:
When was the last time you past judgment on others? When was the most recent experience of humility? Then there is the ultimate one… when was the last time you truly saw life, something, anything, thru someone else’s eyes – thru their version of your rose colored glasses.
See, I don’t believe that any of us have “all the right answers” but boy we all sure go around living our lives like we do. And before you click off this page out of “how dare you” feelings… think of this ~ the last time you past judgment, made a negative comment about someone, acted selfishly without thinking of the impact… you were acting as if “you had all the right answers”… life is not about you, not about me… I believe that life is what you make it and what you put into the world around you.
Make “dilemma” about choices, though they may be difficult… a dilemma is as basic as making a choice to judge without knowledge or intelligence, dilemma can be as basic as waking up on the wrong side of the bed and not seeing the choices as choices, but rather as big gigantic obstacles… dilemma could be as simple as knowing which route to take to work, or how to plan out your week. A dilemma may be having to decide to have a conversation that has been procrastinated on, dilemma could be all the energy held within instead of trusting your insight deep within and sharing with those you love your heart and outlooks… I dare ya… give “dilemma” knew meaning…

It really makes you realize that every one is fighting their own inner battles. Some people may come across short, crabby or just a plain B&%ch. But we must remember life isn't about us, its about how we react to what is dealt to us. So next time I'm dealt with a b#%ch (and working retail it happens!), I will keep your post in mind! Thanks!
