On Any Given Sunday...
I watched the movie Invictus last night. It was again based on an amazing and miraculous true story. A story of defiance, of commitment, of inspiration, and of unity; that same sports themed mind is similar to Rudy, Remember the Titans, We are Marshall, Hoosiers, The Blind Side, and so many, many more.
Within each generation we have those sports teams and groups that raise the bar, that somehow instill in an average person that you should dream big and that it's not only okay to get excited about the possibility of "winning"... but it is part of being a fan – of cheering them on – of being part of the team. That is Inspiration.
For the soap box version of my Sunday rant - go back to this thought that a sports team could rally the troops per say and deliver a solid "Yes!" from the crowd. Have we encouraged and treated these sports figures with genuine sincerity or that they have god-like characteristics? Because, on this Any Given Sunday - we all have god-like characteristics, we all have it within our own selves to be absolutely amazing, powerful, talented, - each of us have it in us. Now mind you, for the most of us it is probably not the athletic ability that professional athletes have - but still. Each of us have something within us that drives us in that moment. For that person out of high school and on to the next phases of their life - today... it is about reliving the greatest sports moments they had in high school. That adrenaline - the hope.... the inspiration and the feeling
So again I say - On this any given Sunday... are you an inspiration? Or do you leave that solely to the men on the field.
By the way... if you didn't know... I love my Vikings - no fair weather fan am I. Admittedly there is much off the field to be said about them now - but those aren't the actions that inspire me. To the old guy on the field - may your arm, shoulder, and ankle hold up another day. To AP and Harvin... play like there is no tomorrow. To my #69 - take care of your team. And to the always consistent and cool Mr. Moss - welcome back - go show them how its' done.
