For Honor and Memory
May this find your today quite fine
May you know how to stay within the line
But please if you can…
…Put into place…
A plan of daily honor, of great presence, and grace
For in our current times
That memory of wordless thoughts
Will appear for I pray more than one day longer
I don’t wish for the fear, anger, or sadness to control each thing we do
But to step each moment with a vigor of everlasting truth
That solace truth to which we all know
To which freedom and dreams are not free as we all believe and are told
Vigilant we must be with to our lives
For justice and honor
For character and integrity
To whom can we pledge to step each we take
For those lost, left behind and to the future of our state?
Yet on dreams of a long ago
To live with our descendants
The fight for an America of life, love, happiness, and independence
The plight of broken hearts to mend
To the ashes that continue to wash on our shores
Honor we strive to remember the sacrifice
Respect to live on for the example in your life
Gratitude now raised to each stranger who helped
And the friend, family and acquaintance
Who will never forget the last thing that was said…
The awe and disgust of the riotous hate they brought here
Will be judged by all and One when the time comes near
But for today may we stop
Close our eyes and pray
For the fight to our dreams
For our children and their right to play
To learn, grow, and impact the country we love
Better each day for what each value most dear
Pray to be strong and deliberate but not to act on fear
But rather in honor, in courage, and grace
For the dignity of those that perished on that unforgettable day
Will reign through each of us,
In how we choose to take each step
So now step forward with the memory
Press on for the honor of life, love, peace, and prosperity.
